Brussels [Belgium]: Airports in several European countries are facing reports of a major cyber attack. The Belgian capital, Brussels, hundreds of flights were affected on Saturday at major European airports, including London’s Heathrow Airport and Berlin’s, the capital of Germany. Most of these flights were cancelled or delayed. This cyberattack targeted the service provider that operates the check-in and boarding system.
Computer systems jammed after cyber attack
Brussels Airport confirmed that the attack on Friday night caused its automated systems to shut down, allowing only manual check-in and boarding. “On the night of September 19, a cyber attack occurred on our service provider, which is responsible for the check-in and boarding systems, affecting several European airports, including Brussels Airport,” the airport said.
