US President Donald Trump on Thursday hinted that American troops could redeploy to Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan, a statement that has caused quite a stir.

Will US troops re-enter Afghanistan? US President Donald Trump on Thursday referred to Bagram Air Base and said, “We’re trying to get it back.” Trump called it breaking news. He made the remarks at a press conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the conclusion of his visit to Britain. Trump said the US presence in Bagram is crucial because it is close to China.

    Trump calls China a target:

Donald Trump has linked the move to withdraw Bagram Air Base to the need to confront China. Responding to a question, Trump referred to Bagram Air Base and said, “We want that base because, as you know, it’s an hour’s drive from where China makes its nuclear weapons.”

US President Donald Trump has indicated that the Taliban may be open to the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan due to its internal challenges—such as economic crisis, lack of international recognition, and rivalry with terrorist organizations. However, the White House has not yet clarified whether any direct or indirect talks have taken place between the US and the Taliban. It is worth noting that nearly four years ago, after the sudden departure of US troops, the Taliban captured all of Afghanistan, including the strategically important Bagram Air Base. Bagram Airfield, located 47 kilometers from Kabul, is capable of operating large cargo and bomber aircraft. Trump recently claimed that China had taken control of the base.

Washington: US President Donald Trump has once again betrayed India. After imposing a 50% tariff, he has now added India to a list of countries accused of illegal drug production and trafficking. India has been added to this list along with countries like Pakistan and China, which the US administration alleges are producing illegal drugs and the dangerous chemicals used in their production, putting American citizens at risk.

    India was also praised

In this report submitted to the US Parliament, Trump has included the names of a total of 23 countries, which have been accused of illegal production and smuggling of drugs. According to a media note issued by the White House, these countries include China, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, in addition to India. The report also names India as a drug transit country. However, it also commends India for its strong measures against drug trafficking. The Presidential Determination Report clearly states that India has taken strong measures against drug trafficking.

    China asked to take action

According to this report, China’s name comes in the category of those countries which illegally produce chemicals used in making drugs. Afghanistan has been included in the list for continued opium production due to the Taliban, while Pakistan has been included due to drug trafficking cartels and transit. Pakistan and China have once again shown solidarity in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). The two countries have introduced a resolution against Balochistan, demanding that the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and its so-called suicide wing, the Majeed Brigade, be declared terrorist organisations. This is the same China which has used its veto power several times in the UNSC on the proposal brought by India against the masters of terrorist organizations like Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba.

    Pakistan blames Afghanistan for terrorism.

Pakistan and China have demanded that the BLA and its suicide wing be declared a terrorist organization under the Council’s 1267 Al-Qaeda Sanctions Committee. Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmed, said on Wednesday that Islamic State-Khorasan (ISIL-K), al-Qaeda, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, East Turkestan Islamic Movement, the BLA, and the Majeed Brigade are operating from Afghan bases. He said more than 60 terrorist camps are active in Afghanistan, serving as bases for cross-border attacks. But both China and Pakistan maintained silence on terrorist groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba operating from Pakistani soil. However, both countries have introduced resolutions against the BLA and its brigades, demanding that it be declared a terrorist organization.
