H-1B visa fee a dangerous decision, US lawmaker calls ‘this is a self-inflicted wound for us’.
Trump’s decision to impose a one-time fee of $100,000 for H-1B visas is being opposed within the US. California Democratic Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove.
The California Democrat said on Monday that the president is targeting immigrants and global talent at the expense of the US economy. “American workers are suffering from Trump’s rising unemployment and inflation. Why not fix this instead of harmful and xenophobic policies?”
Kamlager-Dove said the policy is not only detrimental to foreign talent but will also be detrimental to American companies and universities, which have been working with them for years. She alleged that President Trump was hurting the US economy and innovation by targeting “immigrants and global talent.”
